Vancouver Roots application
The Clark County Historical Museum, the Creative Media and Digital Culture program at Washington State University Vancouver, and Clark County are partnering to create a visitors’ engagement tool utilizing contemporary native mobile application and augmented reality technology via smartphone and tablet that will allow tourists to independently discover and explore the history and amenities of Vancouver. Historic Routes: A Tour of Downtown Vancouver will be an immersive, interactive, educational, and fun app that allows users to experience and interact with significant places, pieces, and people from the history of Vancouver through a guided walking tour.
This native app for Apple and Android smart devices will provide a walking tour of downtown Vancouver and highlight 12 major historical and cultural sites. Features of this app will include:
- An interactive history walking tour that guides app users from site to site

- Photographs uploaded to a site and to the visitor’s own media
